Papohaku Beach
If you’ve come to Hawaii to tickle your toes in miles of untracked sand, Molokai’s sensational Papohaku Beach is likely the stuff of your dreams. At very near 3 miles in length it is one of the largest beaches in all of Hawaii.
And what makes it seem all the larger is the fact that most of the year it is pristine white-gold sands are remarkably people-free. Part of this stems from the fact that its Molokai, there just aren’t a lot of people around anywhere on Molokai. Its location is also a factor. Situated on the far west end of the island, getting there is a bit of a drive – but absolutely worth it for anyone seeking sundrenched serenity.
Tip: Papohaku is remote. Be sure to bring plenty of snacks and water. There is also no shade, so bring ample sunscreen and reapply often!

The beach is great for sunbathing, strolling and viewing spectacular sunsets but its not recommend for swimming.
The only time the beach sees any notable traffic is the one weekend of May when the area comes alive with the annual Molokai Ka Hula Piko events, its a festival that celebrates dance. Otherwise, it’s all yours. Or at least that’s the way it feels.
